

Irene Schwartz, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, beautiful individual passed away on October 10th with her loved ones at her side. She was born in Chicago 73 years ago and spent her first 20 years there before moving to the Phoenix area with her husband, Gene. Throughout her life, she was what she termed “a Professional Volunteer.” Included in her many accomplishments were President of EK Baum Chapter of B’nai B’rith Women (BBW), President of the Phoenix Council of BBW, and Chairperson of the Greater Pacific Southwest Regional Board. Active in Temple Solel, she was Sisterhood President and Oneg Shabbat Chair Person for 4 years, Temple Gift Shop Coordinator for 6 years, and was on the Temple Board of Directors. All this along with Gene raising two wonderful daughters. Irene is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Gene; daughters, Leslie Schwartz, and Julie Ivanhoe (Jon); grandchildren, Navon (Ali), Miriam, Ari Weisberg, Rebecca, Aaron, Daniel Ivanhoe; great-grandchildren, Samara, and Pyre Weisberg. Services will be held at Temple Solel on Wednesday, October 13. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Temple Solel, Hospice of the Valley, and the Park City Music Festival.
