Jack C. Absher (known to many only as “Grandpa”) 86, passed away March 11, 2002. He was born January 11, 1916 in Carmi, IL. Leaves wife, Barbara, son Dean of Tacoma, WA, brothers: Tom of Marshall, MO; Gene of Columbia, MO; sisters: Leona of New Carlisle, OH, and Pat Carl of North Little Rock, AR. A man who could fix anything but a broken heart or the break of day. Blessed with 53 years of a loving, wonderful marriage. He spent most of his life helping others in a truly Christian way. He had many physical problems over the years, but God always pulled him through to continue his work. He will truly be missed. His formal education only took him through 9th grade, but by reading and traveling world-wide he gained a wealth of knowledge and experiences. He had a very strong faith and a terrific sense of humor. He retired in 1980 from the Arizona Department of Transportation. He was a Merchant Seaman as a young man and before and during WWII, and an active member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church since 1986.
