June 19, 1932 – July 22, 2014
Jacquelyn Kay McConaha, 82, of Mesa, Arizona, peacefully left this earth to her heavenly home on Tuesday, July 22, 2014. She is survived by her sister, four daughters, seven grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. Jackie joins her husband and two great-grandchildren who have passed before her.
She was born at home in Centerville, Indiana and graduated from Centerville High School in 1950. She married George W McConaha in 1951 and they moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1956 with their four young daughters. She and George later moved to Mesa, Arizona.
Jackie went back to school after her daughters were grown and earned her MA and PhD in Christian Education Administration. As one of the founders of a Christian school, she worked as teacher, vice-principal and principal for twenty years. She later earned her BA in Education and worked as a substitute teacher in Christian and public schools.
She had a passion for genealogy and wrote several books documenting her family history and lineage. These books are part of her legacy to all of us remaining.
Jackie was all about family. She loved her daughters and their husbands, but it was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who gave her great joy. She regularly travelled to Alaska to be with her youngest daughter and her family.
She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, teacher, mentor and friend to all. She will be greatly missed and loved forever.
The memorial service is scheduled for 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Green Acres Chapel, 401 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale, Arizona, 85257. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Jacquelyn's name to www.eyesight.org
