James "Jim" Edward Meyer passed away peacefully into the arms of Christ on January 15, 2026. Born in St. Louis on May 24, 1942, Jim grew up there until he moved to Alton, Illinois, when he was in eighth grade. After earning a degree from The University of Kansas Business School, he relocated to New York City, where he joined the Junior Executive Training School ("Jets") at Merrill Lynch. It was there he met Karen, his wife of 60 years. The couple moved to Arizona a week after they were wed and enjoyed a beautiful, rewarding, and successful life.
Jim joined Paradise Valley Country Club in 1969 and was an avid tennis player and golfer. He served on the Board and was Treasurer for two years. In 1971, he and Karen found their church home, Valley Presbyterian, which became an important part of their lives. He was one of the first members of the Phoenix Men's Arts Council and was one of the eight founders of the Fiesta Bowl. Additionally, he was an active member of the Scottsdale Charros and Scottsdale Rotary and sat on the University of Kansas Chancellor's Athletic Board. Jim was a successful financial consultant for over 55 years.
Jim had an unwavering love for his family, his church and community, travel, and sports. These passions made his life rewarding and fulfilling. He will be remembered for his photographic mind and his ability to challenge everyone on sports and history. He even hosted a daily sports radio talk show as the "Moose" for three years.
Jim was predeceased by his special children, Randy and Kristin, and his only sibling, Bill.
Jim, you will be missed. See you again in God's Kingdom.
By Jim's wishes, there will not be a memorial service. Donations in Jim's memory may be made to Valley Presbyterian Church Foundation in Paradise Valley.
