

Jerry Ferguson of Mesa, AZ passed away on November 4, 2024, at the age of 86. Jerry is survived by his wife, Debbie, daughter Lynsey, son in law Kevin, brother Bill and sister-in-law Joyce as well as nieces Megan and Adrian.
A Midwesterner at heart, Jerry was born in Burwell, Nebraska. He graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University with a degree in Education with a focus on foreign language. He moved to Arizona where he later earned a master’s degree in counseling from Arizona State University. Jerry was one of the original teachers who opened Westwood High School where he taught Social Studies and French for over 30 years and served as an Advisor to Student Council and French Club.
In 1984, he married Debbie, an elementary teacher and they later welcomed their daughter. Jerry was a kindhearted, supportive and devoted husband and father, sharing his love of travel, cooking, gardening, music and trips to the cabin in the high country with his friends and family. He found joy in attending church and being a member of the First United Methodist Chancel Choir for over 50 years.
Jerry will be dearly missed by family and friends and forever loved by all who knew him. A Memorial service is scheduled at 10:00 am on January 11, 2025, at the First United Methodist church in downtown Mesa.
