John J. Hyde

He is survived by his wife Maude Hyde, son John Hyde and daughter Brenda Wendt.

John was the Commander of the American Legion Post #44 in Scottsdale, Arizona from 2011 to 2016.

He was very dedicated to his position as Commander of this Post and was instrumental in many positive changes during his years as Commander. He was very appreciative of all those who worked with him on the Legion board and volunteers who helped make it a great place for the veterans to come and enjoy themselves.

In September, under John’s leadership as Commander he continued to honor the First Responders, Scottsdale Police Department and Fire Department, at the Post with a free luncheon to thank them for the service to the Scottsdale community. He felt very strongly that it was important to honor and recognizes these brave men and women who give so much to our community. Even after his term as Commander, he had a close friendship with the Scottsdale Police.

He also approved for the Post #44 Auxiliary Unit to pursue allowing Bingo at the Post. Bingo is still in place today and doing well.

These are just a couple of the many good things that happened during his terms as Commander at Post #44. There were many more. Anyone who worked with John closely would not hesitate to tell you how caring he was about the Post and the veterans. John was also a member of the Elks #2148, Scottsdale, Arizona.

His wife Maude was always by his side helping him with functions at the Post. They were a team. He relied on and valued her input when it came to organizing for the special functions.
