He was born in Irwin, PA, the son of Abe and Kathryn (Glaus) Schade. He was a proud graduate of Valley Forge Academy in Wayne, PA.
Jack loved this country and was a staunch patriot throughout his life. He served in the Army, fighting in the Korean War where he lost his hearing due to continuous duty in a military tank. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion and a huge supporter of The VA and The Reagan Presidential Library.
Cars and car sales were a part of the Schade family history. Jack was the youngest person in his region to own a car dealership when he opened his Chevrolet/Oldsmobile dealership in Ligonier, PA. He successfully ran the car dealership from 1960 until 1970 when he moved the family to Scottsdale, Arizona.
Jack had an affable personality and brought laughter wherever he went. He was especially good at comically describing various events that occurred at the many car dealerships he worked at in Arizona. Indeed, he was known as quite the jokester. He had a smile that was a mile wide and a heart to match.
Jack was predeceased by his father Abe in 1951 and his mother Kathryn in 1995. In 1994, Jack lost the love of his life, Nancy Newell Schade. Nancy and Jack had a beautiful marriage of 42 years. Jack never stopped missing Nancy. He is now “Home” with her and at peace. Jack will be dearly missed by his sons, David and his wife Deborah; Jon and his wife Marlene and his daughter Becky, as well as by his 2 grandchildren, Ian and Rachel Schade.
“Success” Adapted from Ralph Waldo Emerson
The man is a success
Who has lived well
Laughed often and loved much
Who gained the respect
Of intelligent men
And the love of children
To know even one life has breathed
Easier because you have lived
Who looked for the best in others
And gave the best he had.
Dad – you were a success!
