Joseph (Joe) was born on June 2, 1935 in Waynesboro, Mississippi to Reverend Joseph W. Loudenslager and Myrtle Loudenslager. The family lived in Mississippi until moving to Howard, South Dakota in 1946. Joe excelled in sports at Howard, being captain of the football team and playing basketball. After graduating high school in 1953, Joe worked for the railroad in Cincinnati, Ohio before enlisting in the Army. Joe spent 18 months of his service in peacetime Japan. Upon receiving his Honorable Discharge from the Army, Joe attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. There he met the love of his life, Alice Hagford, whom he married in 1958. They had 5 children raised primarily in Spring Valley, Minnesota. Joe ran his own business as a distributor for various companies his entire career. He was an avid traveler and was happiest behind the wheel of a car, a boat, or an RV. After his wife’s death in 1984, Joe moved to Florida where he continued running his business with two of his sons. In his retirement years, Joe spent time with family in three states, enjoying his favorite dogs and driving his car.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Alice, and siblings William Loudenslager, Eunice Lien and George Loudenslager. Joe is survived by his children: Timothy (Sara) Loudenslager, Evan, Allison Jo, Emma Jean of White Bear Lake, MN; Thomas of Safety Harbor, Florida; Judith (Dan) Halvorson, Steven, Timothy, Jennifer of White Bear Lake, MN; Joel (Jan) Loudenslager, Joseph (Samantha), Caleb, Noah, of Chandler, AZ; Jon (Jennifer) of Longwood, Florida; and one great grandchild, Urijah Halvorson. Also, many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family.
Services will be held at North Heights Lutheran Church, 2701 Rice Street, Roseville, MN, on Saturday, June 15 2019; Visitation at 10 AM, Funeral Service at 11:00 AM with lunch to follow. The inurnment will take place at Sunset Memorial Cemetery at 2:30 PM.
