Josie was born in Tempe, AZ on October 15,1933 to Gilbert Moreno and Mary Castaneda. She was married to her husband, Tony Martinez for many decades. Josie lived her life as a cook, homemaker, devoted wife, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and nana. As an active member of the American Legion Post 41 since 2009, she had a passion for helping others and giving back to her community. She is survived by her seven children: Alice, Tony, Robert, Gilbert, Yolanda, Richard Sr., Mary (Sasa); 27 Grandchildren; 83 Great- Grandchildren; 23 Great-Great Grandchildren; and her brother Rubin.
She is preceded by her husband, Tony, her parents, Gilbert and Mary, and siblings, Rocky and Mary Helen.
Viewing & Rosary Services will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 5-8pm at Green Acres Mortuary, 401 N Hayden Road, Scottsdale.
Mass Services will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 10am at Saint Theresa Catholic Church, 5045 E Thomas Road, Phoenix.
Josephine will be laid to rest in the Garden of Faith, Lot 435, at Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery, 401 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale, on August 28, 2026.
