Juan Alejo Fraga Sr., July 17th, 1920 - August 21st, 2013. Juan Alejo peacefully entered into the presence of the Lord on the 21st day of August 2013, after 93 years on this earth with his children by his side. Juan Alejo was a warm, comforting, and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by six children and a step-daughter, Juan (Yvonne) Fraga Jr. of Goodyear, AZ, Arturo (Judy) Fraga of Boise, ID, Yolanda (Joe) Mata of Chula Vista, CA, Martha (Tom) Lopez of Chula Vista, CA, Daria (Jerry) Branstetter of Gilbert, AZ, Steve (Jeanne) Fraga of Corona, CA, and Margarita (John) Schweisberger of Palos Verdes Estates, CA. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. He will be missed by his surviving sisters, Crus Silva of Imperial Beach, CA, Mary Fraga of San Diego, Ca and their families. He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years in 1991, Juliana Silva Fraga, and his wife of 14 years in 2013, Hildelisa Gonzales Fraga, and his brother, Roman Fraga, and granddaughter Melissa Schweisberger.
Juan Alejo was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in WWII in the China Burma India (CBI) Theater, and was a lifetime member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW). After serving his country in WWII, he used his GI Bill to study auto body repair and painting, and started his own business. He retired from the Federal Civil Service with the U.S. Navy after 25 years. Juan Alejo, native of Laredo, Texas, lived his life with dedication and compassion in work and with family. He will be remembered always for his warm-hearted laugh, and his soft words of love.
The viewing and rosary will be held on Monday, August 26, 2013 from 6-8pm at Green Acres Mortuary, 401 N. Hayden Rd, in Scottsdale, with Rosary at 7pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 am, Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 2121 S. Rural Road in Tempe. Interment will follow at Green Acres Memorial Gardens.
