Karen was born on January 15, 1941, in Phoenix, AZ to Pauline Clarice and George Edward Kemper. An Arizona native, she grew up in the valley with her brother George Jr. and sister Lynda (Pendergraft). Karen was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In 1956, Karen met Robert Reinboldt while attending North High School. Karen and Robert would become lifelong partners and celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary May 29 ,2023.
Karen and Robert had many adventures during the early years of their marriage, living in San Diego during college, Milwaukee during Robert’s time at Marquette University Dental School, then Glasgow, Montana and Okinawa, Japan while Robert was serving in the Air Force. During those years, Karen and Robert had four children, Fred, Heidi, Roselyn and their first baby boy passing away in childbirth. Karen and her family eventually returned to Phoenix in 1971 where Robert started his dental practice.
While raising kids and later enjoying grandkids and great-grandkids, Karen and Robert continued their many adventures including building a beach house on the Pacific Coast in Baja, Mexico and enjoying many fun vacations there with family. They also enjoyed time away at the Reinboldt family cabin in Payson, Arizona State University football and women’s basketball games and attending the many activities their grandchildren were involved in.
Karen (aka Lucy, Keri, Karen Ann) had a love of life that showed in every interaction. She was joyful , spontaneous, loving and created the fun in every situation. She cared deeply for those around her and was an amazing wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the grand kid’s biggest fan and loved them like no other. She loved to have fun giggling, especially with her sister, Lynda. A seeker of stability, Karen pressed on through all things lacking from her lonely childhood to create a stable family. This pain created in her a discernment for anyone struggling and she was first to volunteer herself to do WHATEVER was necessary ……. She had a servant’s heart and made an enormous difference in everyone’s life by adding comfort and beauty –she made it all neat and clean. She loved spending time in her jasmine garden and enjoyed pruning every plant visible to bring out the beautiful new growth. She was a Christian and received the mind of Christ, with a clarity and peace that can only come from Christ himself. We are so grateful for that! She had no fear and was as strong as a green beret and more courageous than a lion facing her last battle that landed her in heaven with Jesus, Rossi and Lynda skipping on the golden paths of Heaven with new, youthful bodies.
Karen is survived by her husband, Robert, her son Fred (Colleen) Reinboldt, her daughter Heidi (David) Raber, six grandchildren: Kyle Raber, Ryan Reinboldt, Nicole Raber, Mitchell Reinboldt, Cristina Conrado, Karina More and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her daughter Roselyn (Rossi), brother George Jr and sister Lynda.
Services will be held on December 21, 2023, 10:00am at Green Acres Chapel (401 N Hayden Rd, Scottsdale, AZ).
