Kimberly Ann Pontiakos sadly passed Thursday, August 11, 2022 in Gilbert, Arizona. She is survived by her children Dara (Orange, CA), Michael (Arlington, VA), Connor (Boulder, CO), her six grandchildren and favorite companion Charlie the Dachshund. Kim was born and raised in New Jersey and carried her energetic personality through Florida, Pennsylvania, and California, before making Arizona her home. She was a passionate advocate from a young age. As the daughter of a Police Officer, she grew up championing law enforcement. She started an effort working with multiple state Governors to create and enforce child support laws.
Kim was known anywhere for her big blonde hair and the distinctive jangle of her bracelets. From dinners, birthdays, grad nights, brunch, book club, and holiday soirees, she was the life of the party. Although she had many pastimes, the things she loved most in the world were her grandchildren. She was so proud of each one and would regale anyone with photos and stories of their newest adventures. She took every chance she could to see or speak to them and spoil them with gifts. Her most treasured possessions were cards, pictures, notes, and drawings from her family, and her house was covered in them.
She lived in a way that defined getting the most out of life and will be remembered for her strength, tenacity, generosity, and love. She lives on with the lessons and memories she gave each of us.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance at ocrahope.org.
