Leonard “Lennie” Grobstein passed away July 11, 2026, just two days prior to his 95th birthday. He is predeceased by his soulmate/wife Elaine “Lennie” Grobstein of nearly 72 years. Girl Lennie passed away just about six months ago.
He is survived by his adoring family — children Howard (Ellen), Bruce (Patti), Jeff (Dianne) and Jan Horne (Mike); eight grandchildren Allison (Joe), Zachary, Cody, Michelle (Anthony), Nathan (Jenny), Mackenzie, Alec and Eli (Kristyna); and 7 soon to be 8 great grandchildren Brandon, Noah, Jessa, Kellen, Nolan, Emma and Maya; sister-in-law Linda Silverman (David); and many loving nieces and nephews.
Lennie was a kind and gentle soul. Despite his age, he had a memory like an elephant and relished telling stories both old and new. He had an easy smile and sparkling blue eyes.
He was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, the last of four sons. He served in the Navy as an aircraft engine mechanic/flight engineer for 2 1/2 years during the Korean War. He spent most of his career as a jeweler and a part owner of L. Larson Jewelers in Old Town Scottsdale. He was a certified gemologist. He was beloved by his employees and customers — many of whom became very dear friends.
“The Lennies” were avid travelers, who saw much of the world. In later life, they enjoyed playing golf, canasta and Scrabble, and spending time with family and friends.
Donations may be made in his memory to Hospice of the Valley or a charity of your choice.
