Lewin Terrey, of Stamford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born on October 9, 1952, he was the beloved son of the late Maureen and Lewin Terrey.
Lewin graduated from Saint Stanislaus Catholic School in Mississippi and later earned a master’s degree in English literature from SUNY Albany. His lifelong love of learning and the written word remained an important part of who he was.
Lewin served for three years in the United States Navy. He later began a long career with General Electric, where he worked for 25 years before retiring. Colleagues and friends knew him as dependable, principled, and kind.
Lewin met Allison Smith in 1996, and they married in 1999. During their years together, they made their homes in upstate New York, Georgia, and Connecticut. His family knew him as a steady presence whose care, fairness, and loyalty were reflected in the way he lived each day.
Lewin found great peace and joy in nature. He especially enjoyed riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles and spending time with Allison fishing, hiking, camping, and bicycling. He was also an avid reader, appreciated a good cup of coffee, and rarely missed an episode of Jeopardy! Whether beneath an open sky or enjoying a quiet moment at home, he found happiness in curiosity, movement, and the natural world.
While living in Georgia, Lewin volunteered with MUST Ministries. Giving his time to others reflected the quiet generosity that marked his life. He had a natural way of making people feel seen, respected, and valued.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Allison Mary Smith Terrey; his son, Paul Jason; and his two supportive brothers, Michael Terrey and Chris Terrey.
Lewin will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. His honesty, curiosity, courage, and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
A memorial gathering to honor Lewin’s life will be held at Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery, 401 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85257, US, on October 13, 2026, visitation from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life from 12:00 pm.
