A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday September 21st at Dream Manor Inn in Globe, Arizona from 2-5pm. Please RSVP to the Dream Manor Inn, no later than Wednesday, September 7th.
Lona was born in McNary, Arizona July 30, 1950 at Apache Hospital to Leona Lovina (Brown) and Floyd Riley Kelley. Lona lived in Phoenix for a brief period of time in her early youth, but aside from that she was born and raised "on the mountain" and graduated from Blue Ridge High. After high school she followed her parents to Globe, Arizona where she met and married Bob Jackson. They raised their family in Globe for the next 20 plus years. She spent the final chapter of her life primarily in Casa Grande, Arizona with or near her son, but after retiring she went back up to Pinetop and lived with a dear friend from high school for a few years before returning to Casa Grande in August 2018.
Lona had the opportunity to try several careers in life from cosmetology to medical assisting, executive assistant, and healthcare compliance, but she was most proud of her work in law enforcement. Her passion was volunteering with the law enforcement explorer program where she touched many lives as she guided youth to a career in law enforcement. Most people who know Lona also know that she was an insomniac and a Facebook enthusiast. She would often reach out all hours of the night asking if anyone else was awake and wanted to talk. She made so many connections with people just staying up all night talking and listening and helping people work through things that they needed to talk about. She was a strong woman with strong opinions, but she never wanted to hurt anyone. She really cared about people and wanted to help.
