

Lucky Sargent, age 80, passed away on August 12, 2026, in Chandler, Arizona. He was born on July 24, 1946, in Prescott, Arizona, and lived a life defined by service, hard work, resilience, and humor.
Lucky proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Sergeant as radar specialist, an accomplishment that remained one of his proudest achievements throughout his life, before receiving an honorable discharge. He often reflected on his military service and the role it played in shaping him. Those who know Lucky will remember the pride he took in his Military Service, his independent spirit, and many paths he traveled during his 80 years. His life touched many people and leaves behind a collection of stories, memories, and experiences that will be remembered by those who knew him.
Throughout his career, Lucky held many different jobs and pursued a variety of interests, earning a reputation as a true "jack of all trades." Among his most meaningful roles was his time as a DECA teacher, a position he enjoyed and remembered fondly. He took pride in sharing his knowledge and encouraging young people as they prepared for future careers. Over the years, he also worked as a U-Haul manager, delivered medical equipment, served as a correctional officer for the Tennessee Penitentiary, worked as a security guard for Home Depot, and concluded his working career as an assistant baker for Bashas' Grocery Company before retiring. No matter the role, Lucky was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to help others. He believed in staying busy, learning new skills, and giving his best effort in everything he did.
Outside of work, Lucky found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved country music, enjoyed watching sports, spent countless hours playing board games with family and friends, and took great pride in gardening. These passions brought him happiness and created many cherished memories with those he loved.
Lucky was preceded in death by his first wife, Sally Loughridge, who passed away in 2006, by a former spouse, Deborah “Debbie” Sargent, who passed away in 2023 and his Sister, Diane Price, who passed away in 2026.
He is survived by a former spouse, Nancy Sargent; his daughter, Nicky Gibson; his sons, Toby Loughrige and Matthew Sargent; along with extended family members, dear friends, and all who were fortunate to know him.
Lucky will be remembered for his service to his country, his many talents, and the kindness and wisdom he shared throughout his life. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A celebration of Lucky's life will be held at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery: 401 Hayden Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85257 on Tuesday, August 25th at 2pm. A reception to directly follow at Mission Del Sol Presbyterian Church: 1565 E. Warner Rd, Tempe, AZ 85284.
