

Margaret “Joyce” Pigott passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of
January 29th, 2013. She was 88 years of age.
Born in Livermore, Iowa on May 21, 1924 to Dr. William Earl Hoot (deceased) and
Anna Hazel Strong-Hoot (deceased). She graduated from Colesburg Consolidated High
School (Iowa) as valedictorian of her class. She furthered her education after high school
at the American Institute of Business in Des Moines, Iowa. In her mid-twenties she spent
time working over seas in Morocco, Africa where she met her first husband and father of
her children, Edward Kelly. Upon returning to the states, she settled in California, where
she worked and raised two children (Dirk E. Kelly and Erin D. Kelly-Eckenrode). Her last employment was with Jerseymaid Milk Company where she had worked over 25 years. She moved to Chandler, Arizona in 1990 after retirement to be close to her daughter and grandchildren.
Joyce was an avid reader with an extensive library of books. She especially enjoyed the science fiction genre. She enjoyed movies, theatre, and travel, and spent time in Europe, Africa, and around the United States. She was a loving and generous mother and grandmother and enjoyed being with her family above all else.
Joyce leaves behind many people who loved her and will miss her. She is survived by
two sisters, Patricia Hamlett and Dona Hoot. Sister-in-law Valerie Hoot. Son-in-law
Tim Eckenrode. Daughter-in-law Joan Kelly. Grandchildren, Jenna Eckenrode, Jeff Eckenrode, Shannon Kelly, and Lauren Kelly. Nieces Stacey Farley, Shelley Adams (Stuart), Molly Hoot and Amber Hoot. Grand niece and nephews, Chris Farley, Jennifer Farley and Jason Adams (Jane).
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dr. Terrence Hoot; and her two children Dirk Edward Kelly (passed away in 2005) and Erin Dee Kelly-Eckenrode (passed away in 2012). They will all be waiting to greet her as she arrives at heavens gate.
Memorial services and internment will be held at a future date. The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of the Valley for their loving care of Joyce in her final days. Donations in Joyce's name may be sent to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, Arizona, 85014.
Joyce is gone from our lives but will be forever in our hearts and memories.
