She graduated from North High School in Phoenix and married Frank Stewart. Margaret was a homemaker for many years. She was passionate in raising, grooming, training and showing Chow Chow dogs around the country for over 20 years and was active in many of the organizations, clubs and groups. Margaret worked hard and found a lot of joy in this time of her life. As a lifelong proud Democrat, she worked on the John F. Kennedy and Hubert Humphrey candidacies as a volunteer. Whatever she was involved in, she gave it her all and was always strong in her beliefs.
Throughout her life, she was surrounded by animals. Margaret and Frank were in the horse racing business for a number of years and raised her children around all kinds of farm animals. She was also very skilled working with Frank in building their homes together. Her homes were beautifully kept and for most of her life, always wonderfully decorated for holiday events.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George Thomas Sr. and Kate Goettl Thomas; her brother, George Thomas; her sisters, Helen Zaremba, Ruth Hill, and twin sister, Martha Bauer.
Margaret is survived by her husband of 70 years, Frank Stewart; her son Mark Stewart and wife Marcia; her daughter Linda Paris and husband Tim Stein; her grandchildren: Michael Stewart, Logan Stewart, Brandon Stewart; and two great grandchildren.
She was at home with her family when she passed. There will be an absence felt of her strong presence. She will be missed. At her request, there will be no service and will be placed at Green Acres Cemetery where many other members of her family have been laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, donations to PETA, local animal shelters such as the Arizona Humane Society, or Hospice of the Valley are greatly appreciated.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.greenacresmortuary.net for the Stewart family.
