

Mario Ferrone, age 107, residing in Scottsdale, Arizona passed away peacefully on July 15, 2020. He was born in Italy on December 25, 1912 to Michael and Filomena Ferrone. He completed his education at the University of Rome and was there inspired to begin his artistic profession. Thereafter, he served in WWII and within months became a lieutenant. After the war, Mario returned to his home town and followed his father’s footsteps and became the mayor of Lucera, Foggia. He then met the love of his life, Anna, and were married for 65 years. They moved to the United States and raised their three children. He loved Italian food, wine, and being with his family and in good company. He is survived by his three daughters, son-in-law, and two grandchildren. Mario will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Anna Ferrone, age 85, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2020 in Arizona, due to natural causes. She was born on July 19, 1934 in Italy, to Michael and Maria Pacifico. At age 21 she married Mario Ferrone in their home town, Lucera, Italy. They had two daughters, both born in Italy. In March of 1962 they moved to the United States. They lived in Connecticut and had a third daughter, then eventually moved to Brooklyn, New York where they raised their family. Anna worked for many years in the garment center in Manhattan, and later ran her own notions business in Brooklyn from 1975 to 2005. Anna and Mario then retired and moved to Scottsdale to join two of their daughters that had relocated to Arizona.
She loved cooking and entertaining but treasured her children and she especially loved her role as a grandmother. Anna is survived by her husband, Mario; her daughter, Lillian Battaglia; son-in-law, Gary Battaglia; grandchildren, Gregory and Christopher; her daughters Marina Ferrone and Diana Ferrone. She loved her family tremendously. Anna will be greatly missed by her family and friends and all who knew her.
