Mary Jean Evers 94 of Tempe, Arizona passed peacefully on September 14, 2026. She was born in Fairbury, Nebraska, the third child of Fred and Frieda Schwisow. She grew up on a farm and attended school in town, often living with aunts and uncles until graduating from Fairbury High School. After High School, she was a teacher in a one room schoolhouse out in the country. She was also a waitress at Hested Stores Company and learned to make her very popular potato salad. On December 31, 1950 she married Glenn Lewis Evers of Hebron, Nebraska.
In November of 1957, they moved to Northern Arizona and in 1960 they moved into their forever home in Tempe, Arizona. She was a homemaker and mother to five children. Her family was always her guiding light. In her free time, she enjoyed bowling in a league for over 40 years, ceramics, crafting, baking treats such as peach pie and brownies, attending movies, concerts and shows, pampering her cat and she absolutely loved to shop!!
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Vernon, sister Elaine, husband Glenn and son Craig.
She is survived by daughter Sharon of Chandler, sons Steve of Queen Creek, Bruce of Phoenix and Kyle of Scottsdale, Grandson Derek Duncan, Grandaughters Marshanna McFarlin, Amber Garcia, Jennifer Evers, Audrey Evers and Caroline Evers, Great-Grandsons Aidan, Ethan and Calvin McFarlin, Carson and Mason Garcia, Krew Kaiser, Great-Grandaughters Marilyn and Alice Duncan.
Services will be held Sunday September 20th at 10:00am with visitation 30 minutes prior to service at Green Acres Chapel of Light, 401 N. Hayden Rd, Scottsdale, Arizona.
