Mary Ann Hagestad, age 88, of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away on Tuesday September 3, 2019. Mary was born September 3, 1931 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Her family moved to Arizona in December, 1944 where she later graduated from North Phoenix High School in 1949 and proceeded on to Arizona State College in Tempe for the next 4 years. She was married in 1953, had three sons and lived in the same home in Scottsdale from 1958 up until her death.

Mary Ann's bookkeeping career began in 1962 when she was working as a hostess, greeting the daytime customers to the Joe Hunt's Restaurant in Fashion Square of downtown Scottsdale. Mr. Hunt needed an assistant to his bookkeeper and asked her to help her out during the afternoon hours. It was 1965 or 1966 that she progressed to become a full charge bookkeeper for the restaurant until it was sold in 1979.

At that time, Mary Ann was proud to be hired by her father, Harold R. Davis to work in his tax accounting office in Scottsdale. Mary Ann ultimately was hired as a full charge bookkeeper with Welcome Aboard Vacation Center in downtown Scottsdale where she worked for many years.

A memorial service for Mary will be held Monday, September 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery, 401 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale, Arizona 85257.

Words fail. Mary Ann treated me as a son from the first moment. The family must be proud. You are in my thoughts this week, and in my heart forever. It Was A Wonderful Life.

This is the funniest memory that our family shared with Maryann celebrating our sisters 60th birthday - her longtime friend Mary Louise Seifert. Maryann flew to Minocqua Wisconsin for four days of fun and adventure. She created many great memories in those four days! She will be dearly missed.
