Maxine Finch, 84, of Phoenix, Arizona, died peacefully and with dignity, with family at her bedside on Thursday evening, July 20, 2017. She was born in Waterloo, Iowa, on April 3, 1933.
After marrying the love of her life, Charles Atlee Finch, Sr., she shared a very happy and prosperous marriage with him for over fifty years.
During the past eleven years since her husband’s death, Maxine spent time doing what she always loved – being with her grandchildren, playing golf, fishing, hiking, biking, relaxing with her friends, and spending time at her church.
She was a long-time member of the Arizona Country Club (ACC), where she was very active with the Women’s Golf Association, the ACC Swimming Team, and sharing her fun, caring spirit with her friends. She was an active member (since 1968) of Christ Church of the Ascension, where she served over twenty years on the Altar Guild, as well as a past member of the Junior League of Phoenix.
The lessons she shared with her son Chip about life and caring for others will always be remembered and treasured. These were extremely important to her.
Her smile, beautiful hair, and long nails were apparent on the outside, while her dedication to her family ran much deeper on the inside. GrandMax, as her grandchildren called her, enjoyed the movies and dinner times with them and other family members.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Charles Atlee Finch, Jr., daughter-in-law, Martha (Marty) Finch, and two granddaughters, Morgan Marie Finch and Bailey Ann Finch. Services will be held at 5:30 pm on Friday, August 11, 2017, at Christ Church of the Ascension, 4015 E. Lincoln Dr., Paradise Valley, Arizona, 85253. A reception will follow the services, for sharing memories of Maxine, and enjoying some hors d’oeuvres and dessert.
