Melvin Burt

Melvin Burt was born to the late Winford Burt and Ozaree Davis Burt on January 4, 1951 in Phoenix, AZ. Melvin departed this life on February 3, 2017 at Banner Boswell Hospital in Sun City, AZ. He was a graduate of South Mountain High School. He became a fireman for Phoenix on September 5, 1977 and retired on December 10, 2008. During his time with the fire department he saved many lives and one in particular was Frank Cheatham. Melvin was preceded in death by his brothers, William Edward Burt and Glenn Ellis Burt. Melvin is survived by the people he loved the most, his children, Lamar Burt, Kizzie Burt, Keisha Burt, Akiem Burt, Kim Jamerson, Dayson Sweetheart and long time friend Debbie Mosley-Burt, all of Phoenix. Five sisters, Dorothy Holden, Flora James, Betty McGruder-Jones, Debbie Hollis, Darlene Turner and one brother, John Burt Sr. Melvin leaves 12 grandchildren, Joshua Burt, Giovanni Burt, Dominic Burt, Elaysha Trotter-Burt, Josiah Burt, Talisha Burt, Tybias Burt, Exavius Greer, Kavion Greer, Deqarius Greer, Nyleah Brown. Melvin also leaves an aunt, Artelma Burt and a multitude of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
