Merritt H. Melzer

Merritt graduated from Alexandria High School and married Dorothy Perreten Melzer in Rose City, Minnesota on August 30, 1958. In 1964, they moved to Arizona and Merritt worked as a meat cutter for Stones Meats in Mesa for 30 years. He was a member of Sun Valley Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Scottsdale. Merritt had a passion for God and family, helping others, and after retirement, he enjoyed making bird houses.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Melzer; his sons: Barry (wife, Vicki) Melzer and Todd Melzer; his daughter, Lisa (husband, Michael) St. Arnaud; his grandchildren: Mitch (wife, Erin) Melzer, Alyson Melzer, and Paige (husband, Edward) Hufford; his great grandchildren Lincoln and Ryder Melzer; his brothers: Delton and Gene Melzer.

Merritt is preceded in passing by his daughter-in-law, Lisa Melzer; and his sisters-in-law: Majelle Melzer and Sonya Melzer.

A funeral service for Merritt will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Scottsdale, 7025 E Osborn Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85251. Following the service there will be a family committal at the cemetery. At this time, all are invited to a lunch reception at the church.
