Obituary of Nancy Lou DeDario
Nancy Lou DeDario, 90 of Paradise Valley, Arizona passed away peacefully at home on Saturday January 15, 2022. Nancy was born in Columbus, Ohio on September 11, 1931, Daughter of Samuel and Eva Shannon. Nancy was married to Joseph DeDario on June 9,1951; Nancy survived Joseph who passed away on September 28, 2018. They were married 67 years at the time of his passing. Nancy was very artistic at a young age and after motherhood. While attending Grandview High she designed her own clothes that her mother made and was in a variety of activities including; playing the Tuba in her high school marching band one of four girls that played the same instrument. Nancy continued her crafts throughout her life, most famous for her homemade family Christmas cards (Before Shutterfly, she was a trend setter in that field), painting, creating feathered bird cages, which included a fake bird, and her favorite, Paper Mache' dolls. Nancy met Joseph in High School when she was working at McKinley’s Drug Store and she knew from the moment she saw him; he was the man of her dreams. All of her children were born in Columbus, Ohio. In 1967 when she was 36 years old, Joe and her made the difficult decision, due to health reasons to leave all their family and friends behind heading west to sunny Arizona. Driving a big Cadillac, four kids and a German Shepard all singing what became the families theme song Side by Side. What an adventure it was and although difficult and a huge change for everyone in the end it was the best decision for the entire family. Mom was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and loving wife. She was enormously proud of her Irish Heritage. She always taught her children to think for themselves; stating each one had a mind of their own. She never ended a phone call without saying “I love you”! Nancy is survived by her four adult children Paula DeDario-Martori and spouse Peter J. Martori, Laura and spouse Scott Flitcroft, Vicki DeDario-Grady and spouse Darren Grady, James DeDario and daughter in law Kathie Dunlap- DeDario. Five Grandchildren Heath and wife Renee Flitcroft, Hallie and husband Angel Morales, Ryan and Kyle Grady, Andrew Lybek-Martori. Nine Great Grandchildren Payton, Kendra, Colton Noah Flitcroft; Jada, Kingston, Navarro Morales, and Matthew Lybek-Martori. A Private Service for family and close friends will be held February 5th at 3:00 pm at Green Acres Mortuary, 401 North Hayden Road Scottsdale, AZ. Arrangements are being handled by Green Acres. Nancy was small but mighty and had a spunkiness about her that will be deeply missed by all of those that knew and loved her. We Love you mom! In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Tunnels to Towers Foundation in Nancy’s name.
