At age 85, Nancy left behind 5 children; Cathy (Bill) Murley, Daniel Yahraus Junior, Jeannie (Mark) Lashinske, Andy (Teresa) Yahraus, and Jo Ann (Brandon) Wiley, an abundance of grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren to reunite with the love of her life; Daniel Yahraus.
In 1938 Nancy began her life on earth in Mansfield, Ohio or the “Holy Land” as she would call it. Raised in a catholic family, Nancy attended St. Peters Catholic School where she developed her everlasting faith and strong connection to the church. She found peace and comfort in praying the rosary daily.
One of Nancy’s high school jobs was working at the local theater; she loved movies, popcorn, or anything else that contained extra salt (perhaps this is how she came to love ocean waters so much).
As valedictorian of her graduating class of 1956, it is no surprise Nancy had many talents and hobbies. She loved reading, sewing, knitting, bowling, tennis, skiing, traveling and watching sports.
Her love story began at the theater where she first met Danny, the love of her life and soulmate of 63 years. Shortly after high school, Nancy would marry Dan and start their family. In 1962 Nancy, Dan, and their three children would leave Ohio for Arizona. Here they would add two more children to their loving family, creating a forever home and legacy in the desert.
Nancy took great pride in caring for her husband and children. She valued family time centered around a home cooked meal, where a beautiful table was always set. Nancy loved her ever expanding family and her face would light up every time she held a new grandbaby, welcoming each grandchild with a special blanket she knitted just for them.
As an adventurous woman, much of her time was spent in San Diego, Prescott, Rocky Point and traveling around the world. Nancy loved being on the water and created many great memories with her family around lakes and oceans and on many different water vessels. When she was not in the water, Nancy could be found inside cheering on the Phoenix Suns.
As a generous and religious woman, Nancy always gave to those in need, from donations to various charities to donating her time as a member of the Christ Child Society.
Nancy lived a full and wonderful life, and while she will be greatly missed, we know she is happily reunited with her husband Danny. She is remembered by her Catholic community, large family, and friends.
Funeral services to be held Tuesday, November 21st, 10:00 am at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, 5045 E Thomas Rd, Phx 85018.
