Norma Andrews Fowler Neri, 84, passed away peacefully on 1/6/18 in Las Vegas. Norma and her family would like to extend their gratitude to the care staff at The Wentworth of Las Vegas, care givers in Arizona and Procare Hospice of Nevada.
Norma’s education was completed in high school but she continued to be a life long learner by educating herself thru her work, reading, classes and learning from others around her.
Norma began from humble beginnings in a family of 9 on a farm in Southern Illinois. She worked for a family in Chicago where she learned many things such as etiquette, elegance and grace and how to care for a home and family in addition to learning these things from her mother.
Her career included being a mother and wife, a “book keeper” for several companies beginning with Montgomery Wards, and Real Estate. Norma not only gained knowledge thru her work but she was an avid reader. She would read everything from the encyclopedias, the newspaper cover to cover daily and even romance novels. She loved books of any kind because they brought her knowledge and joy. She especially loved cook books and of course she was a great cook! She loved her family the most and there wasn’t anything that was more important to her. She was a reserved, quiet and private person with a quiet elegence about her.
Norma and her First husband began a new career adventure in Real Estate when they purchased a small 20 unit Motel in Kentucky in the late 60’s
Norma was always a hard worker and gave her all to her work and her family. Norma was a visionary and could see potential opportunities and was not afraid to “go for it” even if others thought it was risky. This vision is what moved her family west to Arizona. During a summer vacation visit with her sister in Arizona Norma saw the potential and opportunities Arizona had to offer for her family.
When moving to Arizona Norma worked as a “bookkeeper” for Cummins Arizona Diesel before landing back in Real Estate. Norma worked for Income Consultants, Corporation in commercial Real estate specializing in the sale of apartment buildings. She obtained her brokers license and went on to many variations of “Real Estate” including owing apartment complexes and building, restoring and renovating houses.
Norma married a second time after the death of her first husband and enjoyed the second half of her life continuing to learn, travel and work on projects she loved. Norma was an amazing, brilliant, strong generous woman who deserves to be celebrated.
The family is celebrating Norma’s amazing life and the woman Norma Andrews Fowler Neri became. We will miss her dearly but will carry her memory with us always.
May you Rest In Peace Norma Andrews Fowler Neri.
Funeral Services will be held at Green Acres Mortuary (401 N. Hayden Rd. Scottsdale, AZ) on Friday, 1/25/2019 at 2:00pm.
