Uma's life centered around the simple joys of life—conversation with family and friends and shared meals prepared with love. The aroma of her kitchen, where she lovingly prepared Indian feasts, still lingers as a fond memory in the minds of all who were lucky enough to partake.
She enjoyed cooking for anyone who was hungry and loved to host them in her home. She loved creating full Indian meals for her grandchildren and sharing recipes and tips about making the perfect roti. She never felt content until everyone around her had a full heart and full stomach – and then, and only then, would she begin to eat her own meal.
Her grandchildren will forever cherish the memories of sitting around the dinner table, eating Parle-G biscuits with milk while she shared heartwarming tales of their Nana. Every bite of food she served was a testament to the love and the joy she found in nurturing others.
Uma was a social butterfly, her laughter and spirit a magnet that drew people to her. Her friendships were many, her conversations a blend of joy and empathy. Her pride in her children and grandchildren knew no bounds, and despite the miles, her heart remained closely knit to her family, especially her younger sister Nayna.
Uma's legacy of love continues through her daughters and sons-in-law, Urvi & Janak Mehta, and Purvi & Stephen Gordon, and her grandchildren, Vihaan, Monica, Vinita, Alexander, and Nathaniel. Her journey now follows the path taken by her beloved husband, Vijay Shah, and her dear parents, Ramanlal & Chandan Shah.
