Patricia Lou Brandt

She was born in Scotts Township, Fayette County, Iowa on September 3, 1934. Patricia graduated from Oelwein High School in 1951. She graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Arts in 1968 and a Master of Arts in 1973.

She was married to Charles Dean Brandt on August 5, 1951, at Grace Methodist Church in Oelwein, Iowa. They were married for 58 years until his death on January 7, 2010.

Patricia worked as an educator at the University of Arizona, Davis Monthan Air Force Base, as well as on the Navajo and Hopi reservations. She was also President of the Arizona Historical Society from 1993 to 1995 and became an honorary Emerita Member of the Board in 1995.

She and Charles had a passion for traveling the world and exploring new cultures, art, and architecture. They collected a variety of native art and local nativity scenes which they enjoyed displaying for the Holidays. After Charles’ death, Patricia continued her traveling adventures. As an only child, she also enjoyed collaborating with her many cousins on family stories, history, and genealogy.

Patricia is survived by her three children, Linda (Gary), Deanna (Mike), and Matthew (Larry). She is also survived by six grandchildren, Jennifer, Sharon, Mario (Dawn), James (Mekala), Ryan, Sean (Sumin), and four great grandchildren, Oshea, Elijah, William, and Charles.
