Paul Edward Perkins passed away on June 3, 2015 and graduated to heaven to be with Jesus and his first wife Harriet W. Perkins. He was born on July 21, 1917 to parents, Morton O. Perkins and Grace L. Wright in Medina, OH. He lived 97 years and was a blessing to all who knew him. He was survived by his (2nd) wife of 18 years, Mary Mohler Perkins, his son, Bill and daughter-in-law Judy Perkins, son, Jim and late daughter-in-law Diane Perkins, and daughter Mary and son-in-law Dave Griffy; and the Mohler clan, Dave and Patty Mohler, Joyce and Denny Dierringer, Tom and Martha Mohler, Jim and Sandy Mohler, and John and LouAnn Mohler.
Paul has 7 grandchildren---James, David, Michelle, Aaron, Laura, Nathan, and Allen; and many great grandchildren who lovingly called him Grandpa Great.
Paul was an intelligent, loving, honest, man who loved to fish, bird watch, and explore new places. He was machinist who became an equipment engineer for Motorola from where he retired. He also served on the board of directors for the Dingman's Ferry Bridge in Pennsylvania. He was a master craftsman when it came to woodworking, repairing cars, and building and remodeling houses. And we all know, Paul could fix just about anything.
Paul grew up on the family farm in Weymouth, OH and was an only child. He graduated from Medina High School in 1935 and went on to attend at Bryan College where he met his first wife, Harriet W. Perkins. During their 56 years together, they lived at Dingman’s Ferry, Pennsylvania, on the Delaware River, where they took toll for our family owned Bridge, lived in Weymouth, OH, on the farm, moved to Arizona in September 1956 and lived there most of their lives. They also lived in Arkansas 8 years on Beaver Lake. During those years he did a lot of fishing which was somewhat of a passion of his.
After a 3 year battle with cancer, Harriet passed away in 1996. On a trip back to the “bridge meeting”, Paul stopped in OH to visit with a long standing family friend, Mary Mohler, and asked her to marry him. Mary Mohler became Mary Perkins on January 1, 1997 and Paul and Mary enjoyed 18 special years together. They have travelled to all 48 contiguous states in the US, shared common history of family and friends, and had many years of laughter and love.
The Memorial service is Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 9:30 AM at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please give to the nonprofit of your choice.
