Pearl Mae Eckert
August 2, 1922 – December 5, 2018
Pearl Mae Eckert, age 96, died peacefully, December 5th, 2018, at her home in Scottsdale Az. She danced into Heaven, to be with Jesus and with all her friends and family that have gone on before. Pearl was born on August 2, 1922 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She was the daughter of Rev John and Flossie Woodward. She outlived three sisters, Faith, Muriel and Joyce. Pearl graduated from Sioux City High School in 1941. Immediately she began working at Swift & Co. cracking eggs for the war effort. After that she worked for a year sewing uniforms for the soldiers. Later she attended Fort Wayne Bible college and St. Paul Bible college. In 1949 she met Duane Eckert and they were married in 1950 in Ft Wayne In. For the next three years they were in Greenville SC where Duane attended Bob Jones University. During that time in 1951 their son Doug was born. After Greenville they moved to Marion Indiana. In 1956 they adopted Darlene Hall, Pearl's niece, after Pearl's sister Faith died. Pearl and her family, moved to Scottsdale in 1959. Pearl lived alone for 18 years after Duane Died. Pearl learned ballroom dancing and the last 15 years she loved to dance and rarely missed a dance at the Granite Reef Scottsdale Senior Center. Pearl is survived by her son Doug Eckert, daughter Darlene Whitmer, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
