

She was born in Gasport, NY to John and Mildred Pearson, the sixth of nine children. She trained to be an R.N. at Buffalo General Hospital School of Nursing, then joined the US Air Force, ranking as First Lieutenant. While stationed in RAF Sculthorpe, UK, she met and married Earl Thomas Clark, II. They raised three children and lived in South Carolina, Florida, Alaska and Arizona before Earl died in 1973. Phillis enjoyed a long career in hospital and occupational nursing and subsequently married Norman Goheen, of Medina, New York, in 1988, but was widowed once again in 2002. During retirement in Mesa, AZ she was active in the Call to Care and Usher Committees at Apache Wells Community Church and spent 14 years as a Security volunteer and enjoyed the water aerobics group at her retirement community.
Phillis passed away in hospice care in Mesa, AZ. She is survived by her son Earl T Clark, III (wife Patricia) and daughter Anne Clark, and is predeceased by her son Christopher Clark. She also leaves behind granddaughter Jennifer Congdon, brothers Norman Pearson and George Pearson (wife Nancy), and many nieces and nephews. Phillis loved meeting people and nurturing friendships. She will be missed by many dear friends scattered across the country.
Graveside services will be held at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery in Scottsdale, AZ on June 19, 2026, at 2pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Heart of Healing Hospice, Casa Grande, AZ
