
Phyllis was born on July 4, 1955, in Long Beach, California to Charles Kitchens and Freda Armer Blackwood. She was raised by her father and stepmother, Rachel Carolyn Kitchens, growing up in Lakewood, California, and attending Mayfair High School.
Phyllis was a kind, compassionate, and generous person who touched the lives of many. She was known for her amazing cooking, her love of bingo, and her creativity. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Phyllis is survived by her 7 children, Lisa Flores, Tonya Vander Kamp, LaToya Edwards, Edward Trujillo, Jesus Trujillo, Melody Trujillo, and Sabrina Trujillo, her life partner Eddie Trujillo, 16 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, her sisters Suzanne Howard, Stephanie Kitchens, Rebecca Spies, and her brother Charles Gregory Kitchens. Phyllis was preceded in death by her grandchildren Jenalee Jade Edwards and Cameron Zachary Edwards, and her parents, Charles Earl Kitchens, Rachel Carolyn Kitchens, and Freda Armer Blackwood. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Green Acres Mortuary.
Phyllis will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend full of kindness, love, and an amazing sense of humor. May she rest in peace.
