

Phyllis Elaine Wacker, age 91, of Scottsdale, Arizona, passed away November 26, 2021. Phyllis Elaine (Broederdorf) Wacker was born in Peoria, Illinois on September 2, 1930. She was adopted and raised in Elgin, Illinois by Walter Broederdorf and Mabel (Meyer) Broederdorf.
Phyllis graduated from Elgin High School and then attended nursing school.
She married Leon Edward Wacker on November 26, 1949 at Saint John's Lutheran Church in Elgin, Illinois. They were blessed with three sons Allen, Bruce, and Mark. In 1962, the family relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona.
For 30 years, Phyllis worked as a cafeteria manager at Scottsdale, Chaparral, and Saguaro High Schools in the Scottsdale Unified School District.
Phyllis and Leon were longtime members of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Scottsdale. Phyllis enjoyed country line dancing with Leon, playing cards, word puzzles, cross stitching, and quilting. She was a wonderful cook and baker. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She loved baseball. She was so happy to have lived long enough to see the Cubs win the World Series.
Phyllis is survived by sons Allen (Jan) and Bruce (Karen), her grandchildren Heath (Amy), Aaron, and Brett, and her great grandchildren Ryan and Timothy.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leon, son Mark, and great grandson Christopher. As Phyllis joins her lord and savior, we are blessed to have had her as part of our lives. She is loved and will be remembered and missed by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church located at 3110 N. Hayden Road Scottsdale. AZ on January 26, 2022 @ 11:00 am. Phyllis and Leon will be interred together forever at Green Acres Cemetery, Garden of Peace on February 2, 2022.
