Ray Lill, age 80, was born May 6, 1946 in Sioux City, Iowa and is finally resting in heaven after a long hard battle with Parkinson’s ending on October 22, 2026. He lived an exemplary life centered on faith, family, hard work, and touched the lives of many.
Ray was a tremendous athlete and earned his way through Morningside Methodist College in Sioux City, IA playing basketball, where he met and married the love of his life, Sharon.
Throughout his life, Ray held many jobs and explored different careers, from the early days laying railroad tracks, pumping gasoline to mowing cemetery lawns. He eventually built an impressive 22 year career at Motorola, rising to the Worldwide Director of Global Recruitment. Drawing on his experience and passion for helping others, Ray then went on to start a very successful recruiting company, GRL Search Solutions; supporting major Fortune 500 Technology, Mining and Oil, Healthcare and Aerospace & Defense clients over 17 years before retiring.
One of his legacies was making an impact in the lives of countless people with the blessing of employment. He helped family, friends, and others find opportunities that would change the course of their careers and, in many cases, their lives.
Above all else, Ray loved God and his family. He found happiness in the things he loved most; basketball, spending time on the water boating, and, most importantly, being surrounded by his family. One of his greatest joys was his grandchildren; Matthew, Danielle, Jonathan, Luke, JJ and Casey. He spent most of his time attending their sporting events, and generally helping in whatever they needed. He also shared a special love for his nephews and nieces, each of whom held a place in his heart.
Ray is survived by his beloved wife of nearly six decades, Sharon; his daughters, Stephanie Seddon and Jenny Jones, her husband Matthew Jones, his son, Bryan Lill and his wife Sharla Lill. His sister, Karen Pippett and her husband Craig Pippett.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Tera Lill and father, Walter Lill, as well as his brother, Walter (Wally) Lill and sister in law Eileen Lill.
His unconditional love will be deeply missed, and the character and memories he leaves behind will always be remembered.
We will be celebrating Ray’s life with a service and luncheon following.
