

Saggau, Richard John, 92 of Scottsdale, AZ passed away March 15, 2017. Richard was born June 1, 1924 in Denison, Iowa to Ella Wiebers and Martin Saggau Jr. In 1943, he joined the military at the age of 19, where he became a sergeant in the 101st Airborne. He was a parachuter behind enemy lines during the WWII, Invasion of Normandy. After being wounded in action, he was discharged with multiple medals and honors. On Nov. 8, 1954, he received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. In Arizona, he was a local land developer for over 40 years. Richard is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandra Saggau; grandmother, Dora Wiebers; mother, Ella Wiebers; father, Martin Saggau Jr.; brother, Charles Saggau; son, Steven Richard Saggau; and daughters, Michelle Madison and Terri Madison. He is survived by his sons Robin, Kent and Chip Saggau; grandchildren Nick, Wes, Madison, Abbey, Jeromy and Richard; and daughter-in-laws Chris and Karen. A funeral service, in Richard’s honor, will be held Monday, March 27, 2017 at 1:00pm at Green Acres Chapel 401 N. Hayden Rd. Scottsdale, AZ 85257.
