

Robert Elliot Benjamin was born in Santa Monica on November 7, 1934. He received his law degree in Chicago, and his PhD in Economics from ASU in Phoenix, AZ. After working for many years with companies such as Valley Bank, O’Malley Bros, Motorola, Pepsico and Anheuser Busch, he left the law for academia. He taught at ASU, Western International University, The American Graduate School, and had been at Mesa Community College for 12 years before illness interrupted his career. He was also an avid camper and amateur astronomer.
Dr. Benjamin is survived by his beloved wife, Suzanne; daughter, Julianne and husband Mike Bordelon; sons, John and wife LeAnne Benjamin, Michael and wife Tammie Benjamin; step daughter Michaelyn and husband Mike Jayo; step-daughter Stacey and husband James Ramano; step-son, Larry and wife Adrianna Tuma , 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was a bright warm and loving man who always put family first, and adored all his offspring.
Services will be at Green Acres Cemetery, 401 N. Hayden Rd, Scottsdale, Thursday, April 16th at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, Dr. Benjamin would appreciate contributions to the Wounded Warrior Fund for Marines.
