Sandra (Sandy) Harris Frey passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, after a long hard-fought battle to spend more time with family and friends. She was under the care of Hospice of the Valley, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. She is survived by her husband James (Jim) Frey, her children Michael, Amy Gray (Cliff) and David Frey (Sarah), along with 5 grandchildren with one on the way, and her brother Richard Harris.
Sandy was born in Corsicana,Texas, attended Texas Tech and graduated as a physical therapist. She met her husband, Dr. James Frey, while working as the head of the physical therapy department at Memorial Hospital System in Houston, Texas. They married in 1978 and moved to Arizona so Jim could practice neurology at Barrow Neurological Institute with Neurology Consultants.
In Phoenix, Sandy jumped right in and with Jim started a wine club, GRAPES where many of her lifelong friends were made. She volunteered in every organization her children were involved in while growing up and attended almost every baseball and softball game at Cocopah and Chaparral, cheering on her children. She always had the "Frey Mo" ready day or night.
As the kids grew up, she enjoyed playing bridge and became active in the Panhellenic National Association and for decades was active with her Pi Beta Phi alumni group. She was the Alumni Director for Pi Phi at ASU for many years, working with the young women in leadership, sisterhood, and service. She was also involved in the WINGS organization which benefits Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
