The Phoenix community profoundly mourns the demise of Dr. Sridhar who passed away on Dec 21, 2015 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was 68 years of age. Sridhar was born in Tamil Nadu, India and grew up between Tamil Nadu and Hyderabad. After attending medical School at Gandhi Medical College, in Andhra Pradesh, he did his post graduate education in the US with fellowship in Cardiology at Chicago as well as at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. He came to Phoenix in 1976 and was the first Cardiac Electrophysiologist in Arizona blazing a trail in aspects of pacemaker implantation to ablation of abnormal electrical pathways in the heart. He was one of best teachers in the field. One would be immediately impressed with his professional enthusiasm, as well as the emphasis he would place on maintaining high standards of medical care while underpinning the noblest traits based on exceptional moral and ethical principles. His contribution to the profession with unflagging cheer has been one of his defining characteristics.
Beyond professional attributes, at a personal level, he is described by many as having positive endearing traits: erudite, witty, charming, friendly, humble, charitable, etc. Sridhar was a South Indian and North Indian classical music aficionado and spoke many languages. He was deeply embedded in aspects Hindu philosophy in Sanskrit to the ceremonial and respectful aspects of Hindi. Sridhar was indeed an illustration of qualities that represent pinnacle of humanism: caring, philanthropic, compassionate and intellectual with empathy. His discussions ranged from Pablo Neruda to Poverty in Calcutta; from Plato to Platypus; from Shakespeare to Sher Shayiri; from Opera to Omar Khayyam. One of his favorite Omar Khayyam quotes was indeed very touching and apropos to his perspective on realty and relationships, on life and death:
“Hearts are like tapers, which at beauteous eyes kindle a flame of love that never dies; And beauty is a flame, where hearts, like moths, offer themselves a burning sacrifice.”
Many of his stories have traveled with us at work, at home and in the community. Many of the conversations have bridged the gap between our actions and values. His spiritual simplicity and internal core conservative values were in perfect balance to his external suave, sophisticated, bohemian demeanor. His wisdom to many has ranged from being inspirational to transformational harnessing positive energy towards enriching our lives. Family and friends will continue to cherish in glory all the good times we have spent together. Sridhar will be missed dearly. Funeral services will be held at Green Acres Mortuary, 401 N.
