Steve was born in St Louis, Missouri on December 12th, 1963. His family moved around until
they eventually settled in Scottsdale, Arizona, where Steve graduated from Chaparral High
School in 1982. Growing up, Steve was an excellent student and athlete. He first discovered his
passion for sports while playing little league baseball. Throughout his life, he enjoyed watching
football, baseball, basketball, and many other sports. Steve was a proud Cardinals fan and was
particularly fond of Wide Receivers. He enjoyed participating in fantasy football drafts with his
friends and coworkers throughout the years.
For many years, Steve worked alongside his parents and siblings in the family real estate
business, as an agent and photographer. During this time, he completely memorized the layout of
the Arizona Valley, coinciding with his love for geography. He could name every state capital
without hesitation, and he was proud of it. In 2004, Steve found his true career passion: the table
game industry. Moving to Prescott, Arizona with his small family, Steve began working at Bucky’s
Casino dealing poker and blackjack. There he made lifelong friendships with fellow dealers and
patrons alike. Everyone enjoyed Steve’s witty, sarcastic, and highly-opinionated nature. He was
always quick with a comeback and a good laugh. This career led to him working at several other
casinos throughout his life, including Cliff Castle Casino in Camp Verde, Arizona and Ocean’s
11 in Oceanside, California. Everyone who knew Steve could count on him for a good laugh. He
was an amazing friend, family member, and father, who was always willing to help those in need
and very generous with his time and skills.
Steve had an only child, Amanda. Everyone who knew Steve, always said she was the joy
of his life. He often spoke proudly and fondly of her while on the job and to his friends. His love
for her was unfathomable. Steve shared his love of card games, baseball, and game shows with
her. Amanda is honored to carry on the memory of her father.
Steve is survived by his parents, Otto and Elisabeth Hugeri; his siblings, Bob Hugeri and
Jeannie Beach; his long-term significant other, Coleen Watson; and his daughter, Amanda
Hugeri.
