Susan Virginia Jacobs

Susan graduated from New Trier High School and later attended Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois.

Susan was married to Edward Jacobs in 1960 in Illinois, and they shared 23 years of marriage.

She and Ed moved to Arizona in 1973, where she lived until her passing.

Susan began her career in 1972 as a Telephone Operator. She would go on to become a Telecommunications Engineer and work for U.S. West until her retirement in 1997.

As a working mom, she cooked delicious dinners for her family to enjoy while everyone shared the events of the day every evening.

She loved baseball, especially the Arizona Diamondbacks. In her retirement, she volunteered at an animal rescue, enjoyed reading novels, working daily crossword puzzles, and going out to dinner. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Susan is survived by her loving children, Jennifer Jacobs, Jeffrey Jacobs (Doris), and Jessica Zubrod; her grandchildren, Nathan, Holly, Michael, Breanne, Reid, Krystin, Zackary, Kyle and Samantha; her sister-in-law, Linda Sward; and her beloved dog Yaya. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Ray; her brother, Charles "Chick" Sward; and her parents.

A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery, 401 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85257, on July 17, 2026, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. Inurnment to follow.
