Thatcher D. Jones

Born March 21, 1929, in Nephi, Utah, Thatcher was the son of Zetta and Enos Jones. He was raised with five siblings on an oil lease. When he was a little boy, he rode Daisy, the family milk cow every day.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in Meteorology at BYU prior to joining the military and built a life shaped by steady purpose and devotion. Thatcher was a decorated Vietnam Veteran and became a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force as a jet pilot. He retired after 20 years. He loved America and was willing to die for her and for all her freedoms.

Thatcher had several careers after his military duties. He bought a golf course. He was a pilot and armed guard for the banks , a substitute teacher, and helped run multiple businesses on The Reservation. He flew much needed medical supplies to remote areas and flew sightseeing tours over the Grand Canyon.

He resumed a new adventure buying apartment buildings to renovate in Phoenix. Later he fell in love with the stock market. He thought it was fun.

Thatcher was married to his wife, Donna, for 72 years. They had two children and many descendants. Thatcher was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, parents and his son.

Thatcher was a kind and loving man. He loved to rescue dogs and other pets. He loved to grow vegetables and roses for Donna. He could play anything on his harmonica. He was always cheerful and had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed by all!

Thatcher will be placed at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at a later date. Job well done soldier!
