

Theressa graduated from the 8th grade at Holland Christian School. Her career was diverse and impactful; she held various jobs, including working at Fecker's in Pipestone, Minnesota, serving as a nanny in Sioux Falls, and later excelling in the technology industry as a computer technician. Even after her retirement, she continued to assist libraries in setting up their electronic systems.
A passionate traveler, Theressa explored extensively across the United States and ventured on a train trip through Canada. Her travels also took her to Cuba, Russia, the Panama Canal, Germany, England, Israel, and Holland. She traveled not just for leisure but to learn, participating in numerous tours through Road Scholar to deepen her understanding of different cultures. She made it a point to visit almost all the presidential libraries. Cooking and baking for others brought her immense joy; her meals were meticulously planned and always served on time.
Theressa was a member of Velda Rosa Methodist Church in Mesa, Arizona. Known for her self-sufficiency and love for travel, she cherished her independence and valued her time alone.
Theressa is survived by her siblings, Donald De Weerd (Beverly), Darlene Willert (Dennis (deceased)), Edith Doppenberg (Gary (deceased)), Art De Weerd (Marie), Esther Masselink (Bob), and Harold De Weerd (Tran), as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Jacoba De Weerd and her brothers, Marvin De Weerd (Martha (deceased)), Howard De Weerd, and Stanley De Weerd.
A visitation will be held at Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery, located at 401 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale, Arizona, on November 18, 2025, at 9:00 am. The funeral service will follow at 10:00 am, with a graveside service at 10:30 am, at the same location.
