In 2004 Thom recognized the need to bow the knee to his Lord and Savior fully accepting His Love and Amazing Grace. He truly believed he could place his full trust and faith in The Lord daily or go to Him for a new beginning.
Thom doted on his wife Annette of 39 ½ years. She was his princess and everyone around knew it. His children made him proud with their walk in Christ and their accomplishments. His happiest day was when his children made the choice to follow Jesus Christ. Having overcome some big trials he passed on incredible life lessons. He marveled how he could be so blessed.
Thom was always a gracious host, opening the house to many. He always felt that his house was the Lord’s. His job was to be a good steward of it. Conversation never lagged in his company and he was a good listener. He never met a stranger, a friend to all. Having a quirky slightly irreverent sense of humor he loved making people laugh and feel comfortable.
Thom worked so hard for the family, never failing to provide. He worked in plastics manufacturing most of his career, holding many positions as needed from accountant, legal, and controller to executive positions. He respected and treated all people the same regardless of their backgrounds or station in life from the line operator to the CEO. He knew their stories, struggles, families and joys because he put in the time to have a relationship with them. He taught the family to know people’s hearts and listen to their stories even if you have differing personal beliefs. He said you never know if you yourself need to learn something new or if the other person just needs someone to talk to.
Thom always had a heart for the unwanted of society. This included the disabled, addicts and the homeless. He served many with challenges at Hacienda Healthcare as a board member for over 30 years. He also supported Brave Soul Blankets willing to do many behind the scenes task but would not touch the sewing machine. Fingers get in the way!
Thom is survived by his loving wife, Annette; children; Michelle, Thomas, Ivanka and Melaney; and siblings; Patricia Riggs, Kathleen Martin (Michael) and Thomas Pomeroy.
