

Valerie was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico and later moved to the Valley and was a Phoenician at heart. She attended Mesa Community College where she received a “Who’s Who” award; she later attended Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA. as a romance language major since she was quite fond of Latin languages. During her latter years, she attended Scottsdale Community College taking ballet classes as her passion for this classic style of dance was unceasing. Valerie had an enjoyable and rewarding 30 year career in the advertising and marketing industry; her last twelve years were at Power Trade Media as Vice President of Internal Operations.With a real zest for life, Valerie was a pro-life activist and a devout Christian. She loved to spend time with family and many special friends, as well as travel, dance, play the piano, and bake. She really enjoyed shopping and had a very tailored yet lavish fashion sense.
Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family and friends carried her through her courageous battle with ALS. Even while battling this disease in the last year of her life, she continued to be a blessing and deepened the faith of all who knew her. Valerie was a prayer warrior who prayed boldly for others because of her compassion and caring nature.Valerie spoke eloquently and will be best remembered for not only being a “class act” and her grace and beauty, but also for her moral character, sharp wit, good work ethic, and profound quotes.
She was preceded in death by her father Herb “Dwayne” and mother Lorrie. She is survived by her two younger sisters, Vera Fisher and Melanie Garcia, her niece Sarah, two nephews Nicholas and Aaron, aunts, uncles and numerous cousins, as well as her “babies” Wags and Daisy.
Memorial Service will be held at Green Acres Mortuary, 401 Hayden Road, Scottsdale, Az. on Monday, 28 December, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. and a funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, 29 December 2015 at 10:00 at Saint Timothy’s Catholic Community in Mesa, Az. The burial and reception will follow at Green Acres Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the ALS Phoenix Chapter.
