To my brother in law, Vernon:  You are an amazing man, your mom and dad, brothers and kids.  I have known the whole family for a long, long time.  You will be greatly missed.  Now we pray and watch over Betty.  Remember the ride to Manteno to marry Darline and I?  You showed the love you had for your family by doing that.  All my life I have seen you do this.  You put everybody else first.  You will be missed. We love you.

I had the privilege of knowing Vernon all my life and a better man could not be found.  He was a few years older than I, a first cousin, one of four sons of my dad's only sister.  Our families visited often when we were all growing up and I have fond memories of those good times.  When my husband Bill died suddenly in 1994, he and Betty were immediately there for me and he officiated at the services.  Even though we won't be seeing him again soon, he will be forever in our hearts.

Uncle Vernon remains such a positive force in so many lives.  His smile and calm demeanor brings comfort to so many difficult situations both past and future.  Thinking of all the marriages he initiated including ours, his legacy lives deep in the hearts of us all.  God speed to the larger pulpit.

He was one of the finest. You knew immediately when you met him that he was interested in you and your well-being. God used him to bless so many. He was a true servant of the Lord. 

My sympathy to all of the family. I know he has left a big hole in your lives. Blessings!

I remember fondly the Mifflin family.  Vernon was Pastor of our Church, Goreville First Baptist, for many years.  He married Joyce and I almost 35 years ago.  He was a wonderful Pastor and enjoyed his company very much.  His son, Wendell, was close to my age and I remember a lot of good times with him also.  I hold the family up in my prayers and ask Him to give you strength.

Our deepest sympathy to Betty and family. We pray God will give you strength and peace each day as you carry on without your loved one, Vernon.

Vernon you will be missed, We were glad and blessed to know you.

I had the honor of meeting Mr. Mifflin when I started working at DMD. He always shared a kind word, a grin or a quick laugh. We truly miss him. Vernon has been in our prayers and will continue to be. May peace be with you our friend, and with your family.

We will miss Vernon's special smile as he arrived at church each Sunday.  We are on the greeting team, but always felt like Vernon greeted us!  Vernon always had a big hug and encouraging word for everyone he met.  Our love and sympathy to Betty and the entire family. We are so happy that you will have God's comfort and peace.

Dad..When the Lord made Larry - I was given the honor of calling you Dad and Betty Mom. You showed me how to handle life's trials with Faith, Patience and Love. You never met a stranger, and always met anyone with a smile.  Whenever I would came into your house, you gave me the most precious hug and you would ask me "Sue you want a Pepper."  Thank you Dad for always being there, no matter what. Give my Mammaw a big hug for me.  I will see you again. You was/are so loved.  Miss you and love you more.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this time of great sadness. Even though we didn't get to see Uncle Vernon very often we were always remembered at special times in our lives with very touching cards and notes from him and Aunt Betty. We will always remember Uncle Vernon as a very kind, caring and Godly man. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

My prayers are with Uncle Vernon's family now. I have many happy childhood memories because of you. Uncle Vernon has been an inspiration to all who knew him. I know he is finally at peace in God's heavenly home. (He's probably already looking for someone to help out)

Dad, this world will not be the same without you. You always led by example whether it was in Life, Love, or just showing us how to be the best we could be as a father, husband or friend. You will be missed, but we will see you again.  LOVE YA DAD...

Every brother should have a 'big brother' like Vernon and a sis like Betty. I am so honored and blessed to be their brother in this life and their brother in Christ.
