The best mom in the world passed away May 7, 2017. Vivian M. Howe, born in Douglas, Ariz., 88 years ago, had a long and beautiful life for which her loved ones are eternally grateful. Although she will be deeply mourned and missed, all who knew her realize that she is now rejoicing in her Father’s Kingdom. No one loved more passionately and protectively, had greater faith or played a better April Fool’s prank. Vivian was an artist, a teacher, a lover of nature, a healer, a doting grandmother, a proud Arizonan and a true follower of Christ. Every day she smiled, sang, hugged big and cared for others. A member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, she never stopped learning or finding joy in life and her fellow humans. As she joins her parents, brother, husband and faithful canine companion Marco Polo, she leaves behind, for now, son Jeff, daughters Marian, Jeannette, Rebecca and Nancy and grandchildren Colleen and Dan, who count themselves most blessed to have been loved by her. A memorial service will be held 9 a.m. Friday, May 12, at Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery in Scottsdale. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to one of Vivian’s favorite charities: St. Labre Indian School, Shriners Hospitals for Children or Natural Resources Defense Council.
