Wes was born 6 AM April 3, 1933 in Harvey, North Dakota to Albert and Katharina Lautt. He joined the Marines in 1952 and served in the Korean War as an Airplane Mechanic. During his training in Florida, he met his wife, Millie Weisman (deceased). He separated from the military in Hastings, Nebraska and found work in a metal scrap yard. His son, Jack was born in Minot, ND in 1956. Wes was ambitious and moved to Phoenix, Arizona and worked as a mechanic for JI Case. Moving closer to his wife's family, they moved East and worked for Hertz Equipment Rental in New Hampshire. He worked his way up to Manager of the store and did very well. He moved his family back to Arizona after several years but Hertz kept calling him to open up a store back East. His family stayed in Arizona and he moved on to Virginia. When Hertz asked him to move to Chicago to open up a store, he resigned. He stayed in Chesapeake, Virginia and worked for BFI Waste Management, Tidewater District as a Purchasing Manager until he retired in 1998. During this time, he remarried and divorced.
He lived alone in a little red brick house in Chesapeake for several years. Every morning he would get dressed, put the top down on the Chrysler Sebring and drive down the street to Hardee's for a sausage biscuit and coffee. In 2002 he met Patricia at a Christian Singles Group in Virginia Beach. They got married in 2003, packed up their belongings and moved to Arizona to be closer to Wes' family.
Garage sales and auctions were his passion in life. He was up every Saturday and out the door at 6 AM. Even when traveling, he would check the papers for any sales. He knew the "Art of the Deal". He loved to eat at the Golden Corral Restaurant, in VA and AZ. But he most enjoyed his boat and fishing. They would take an annual trip to Minot, ND to fish with his brother Art, and visit extended family. He became a rock hound, like his father and brother.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Patricia; son - Jack living in Phoenix, sister Betty in Chandler, Evelyn in Peoria, Elayne in the State of Washington, brother Dale in Scottsdale, and his oldest brother, Arthur living in Minot, ND; plus extended family.
