Zoe Sherwood, 50, Phoenix, AZ, born May 22, 1968 in Hamburg, Germany has gone to be with her Lord and Savior on May 26, 2018. She is survived by her mother Maren Voelkening, father Uwe Voelkening, step-father John Minett, brother Jaan Voelkening, sister Imre-Ann Ganser, and her loyal German Shepard Shakespeare.
Zoe lived in the Phoenix metro area for the last 20 years of her life. She was an artist and published author and loved the outdoors, hiking and animals, especially dogs and horses.
Zoe was a beloved member of her recovery community for over 11 years. As a beacon of light for many, she dedicated her life to helping others achieve freedom from that dark place of addiction. Zoe had enormous courage and self-respect. She walked away from things not good for her, always moving toward her goals. Her stubbornness was an asset. She didn’t follow the crowd, she led. She wasn’t easily swayed and believed in herself whole-heartedly.
She accepted her cancer diagnosis with grace and calm; even excitement of transitioning into the next phase of her Spiritual existence.
Although cancer eroded her bones, it did not touch her beautiful soul. It didn’t diminish her smile; the one that made her eyes twinkle…. It didn’t take away from her generosity, her victories, or the thousands of lives she’d enhanced through mentoring. She was ready for the inevitable outcome because she had taken the time and effort to know her Self, had the courage to remain true to herself, and developed a loving relationship with her Creator. Her Golden Spirit will remain with us on Earth indefinitely continuing to love, bless and guide all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Memorial Service will be at Papago Park Ramada #16 on Saturday, June 2, 2018 10:00 am.
