Zoe was born on June 7, 1931, in Phoenix, Arizona, and was a proud native Arizonan throughout her life. She graduated from Phoenix Union High School and remained actively involved with the school’s Alumni Association for many years. She was also a member of First Families of Arizona, an organization honoring Arizona pioneers, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
In 1954, Zoe married the love of her life, Lee Battin, whom she met at Central Methodist Church in downtown Phoenix. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and service. They were among the first members of Scottsdale Bible Church when it opened in 1962. In their later years, they became active members of Grace Community Church in Tempe.
Zoe took great pride in her role as a homemaker and dedicated herself to caring for her family. She also enjoyed a career serving others, working as a teacher’s aide in the Scottsdale School District, where she loved helping children learn and grow. Later, she worked in the Registrar’s Office at Arizona State University, where she enjoyed meeting and assisting students.
Zoe was truly a people person who never met a stranger. She had a remarkable gift for connecting with others and genuinely enjoyed learning about their lives and experiences. Her warm smile could light up a room!
Throughout her life, Zoe pursued many hobbies and interests. She enjoyed singing, playing the piano, gardening, needlework, jigsaw puzzles, reading, and especially loved poetry. In her later years, she discovered a passion for sports and became an enthusiastic fan of the Phoenix Suns and Arizona Diamondbacks, faithfully cheering them on from her big brown chair in the family room.
Her family is comforted in knowing that she is at peace in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10AM July 7, 2026 at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery 401 N Hayden Rd., Scottsdale, AZ 85257
